A Day to Rest

I always figured as long as you don't go hard, you can train every day. Right? Maybe so...but as you get older it's not so true. It's not so much your body getting fatigued, because I do try to pace myself. It's that my nervous system gets fried going every day, even just drilling every day. My body, my nerves need a break. A 24 hour period to recuperate, apply all the new proprioceptive information you just fed it. My mind also needs a rest, because it is in some ways like an advanced physics class and going every day is too much!

It's probably in some ways to easier to go twice a day 6 times a week, then to go 7 days once a day. Because you have no break whatsoever. I need to start thinking about efficiency. Maybe I can take a full day to rest, but do a little more on the days I am training. It's all about hours on the mat not days on the mat right?
