Belt Hunters

I am going to be reprinting some old classic entries from my previous blog called The Angry Grappler. It will chronicle the evolution in my understanding of martial arts.

There are some people who feel close to a promotion and so they want that belt badly. They are the male versions of Sophia Tatame. Belt Hunters I call them. They got their stripes quickly and did well against better guys and dominated ppl of their own skill, now they feel close to the cusp, they cut down on rolling with guys who are better than them and only roll with people who they know they can beat. That way they look good, like they are man handling people. Some people have moments in their life where they are like this, others, this is just who they are. At my last academy, there were tons of this, tons of ego. Every academy probably has at least one BH.
