Couldn't agree more with Rener's view on Gracie jiu-jitsu. I don't train under a Gracie currently (Marcelo Garcia affiliate) but I did start under a Murilo Bustamante black belt.
ReplyDeleteWhat Rener covers in this short video is precisely why I study bjj. To me, it's not about points or advantages. It's about testing each other and seeing who has the stronger will. I enjoy the mental challenge as well as the physical. I think I get more of a "victory" knowing I broke my opponents spirit rather than a submission. I really enjoy seeing how long I can fend off submission attempts and then implementing my game. Kind of like what Ryron did to Galvao in their match.
I think 20 more minutes and Ryron would've had it.
What do you think about Kron vs the Ryron/Rener style?
